For years, you've asked us to create a chocolate that marries the intense flavors of our cacao with the spiciness of hot chili peppers. Now, meet the newest member of the Taza Chocolate family... Guajillo Chili Chocolate Mexicano. This chocolate is certified organic and made with only three ingredients: Dominican cacao, cane sugar, and Guajillo chili powder.
The combination of chili and chocolate is not a new idea. The two have been enjoyed together as a drink for thousands of years by the native cultures of Central and South America. Guajillo Chili in particular is one of the most popular chilis in Mexican cooking. Its bright, floral, berry flavors and approachable heat make it the perfect match for our distinctive cacao.
Guajillo Chili Mexicano is great for snacking or for sipping. Expect a slow burn beginning a full ten seconds after you first bite into it. If you thought our Almond Mexicano was tasty before, you should try it now. We've reformulated the recipe to include just a touch of kosher salt along with the organic cacao, cane sugar, and whole fresh-roasted almonds. The salt makes the almonds sing, and the result our most snackable Mexicano yet. Or try it in hot chocolate, if there's any left over...
