Ice Cream Showdown This Weekend

It's high August here at the Taza Chocolate factory, and we're smack dab in the middle of the proverbial dog days of summer. In other words, it's hot outside. And while a chocolate bar is a comfort anytime, temperatures near 100 degrees are unkind to chocolate and human alike.
The kind folks at Citysearch Boston, Sugarbomber.com, and eatBoston have cleverly anticipated our summer suffering and are planning an Ice Cream Showdown in Union Square, Somerville this Saturday, August 22nd 2009. Here's the Facebook page for the event. It's going down at everyone's favorite design shop Grand, starting at 3 PM and going until 6 PM. Rain date, same time on Sunday.

The event is free, but there is a suggested donation of $2, which will go towards the newly founded Juniper Fund. The fund was formed to offer a scholarship honoring John S. Hall who passed away in 2004. This scholarship will go towards an area high school senior who exhibits the same love and passion for music as John.
Expect ridiculously tasty ice cream from local experts like Toscanini's, Christina's, and Wheeler's. We even have it on good authority that Wheeler's will be bringing along a vegan Taza Chocolate "ice cream".
