On Alfajores - Chocolate Dipped Shortbread Cookies
November 11, 2009

Maitelates Alfajores are rich, decadent shortbread cookies sandwiching a thick layer of homemade dulce de leche caramel. To gild the lily, each cookie is then dipped and coated in rich, dark Taza Chocolate. The cookies are named after baker Maite Zubia, who makes them in Ann Arbor from all natural ingredients like local Michigan creamery milk. Maite's twist on a traditional Chilean recipe makes these alfajores cookies a unique treat not to be missed.
We're not the only ones to have flipped for alfajores. Check out the Epicurious review of these addictive cookies (spoiler: "I could eat 10 million more right now."). And take a spin over to Maite's website http://www.maitelates.com for more information about her small business and the cookies that are making her increasingly famous among foodies in the know.
Our alfajores come in packages of 12. Each cookie is carefully hand-wrapped and stickered for a gorgeous presentation. The 12 cookies are packed in a windowed box with a raffia bow, making them a perfect hostess gift, thank you, or midnight snack.
