Chocolate Story Time at the Taza Factory!

Saturday 6/3 at 10:30am

Join the Taza team for a FREE reading of The Chocolate Angel by Miles Schrag.

About the book: Even an angel can struggle to find her way. When Ahva decides to leave her home inside a cacao pod, there’s only one thing she wants to do: share chocolate with the world. But she’ll have to face the biting saw of Serracho, who is trying to destroy the beautiful rainforest! Luckily, help comes from unexpected friends and Ahva soon discovers she’s meant for something bigger than what she learned at Angel College. Recommended for children ages 4 - 8. Stay tuned for more story time offerings coming this summer!

Cacao 101: The Sensory Panel Experience in the new Cocoa Classroom

Thursday 6/22 from 7PM - 9PM

We can’t make seriously good chocolate without seriously delicious cacao beans!  This class is designed to teach you about  Taza's Direct Trade cacao sourcing program and give you an insider’s look at one of the important practices we have in place to ensure we receive the best quality cacao. On this day, you are honorary members of our Sensory Panel — a group of Taza fans who will inspect a “recent shipment” of cacao and learn how to determine its quality for our bean-to-bar making chocolate process. With our staff, you will be guided through an inspection of raw cacao seeds, hand winnow and mill roasted beans, and be led through a tasting of a freshly ground chocolate liquor. We will end by sampling a couple of finished products and discuss terroir, the nuances in flavor profiles, and some of the challenges sometimes faced by Taza when selecting our beans directly from cacao growers around Latin America and the Caribbean.

$35 per person. Space is limited. Get your tickets here.
