At Taza Chocolate we make stone ground, organic chocolate. We want our cacao’s complex flavors to shout loud and proud. That is why we stone grind cacao beans into minimally processed chocolate with bold flavor and texture, unlike anything you have ever tasted.
Taza is organized into three major functions at its Somerville operation: Production, Sales & Marketing, and Operations. The Packaging Assistant performs an important role on the Production team. This position is involved with all steps of wrapping and packaging Taza’s products. The job includes, but is not limited to wrapping chocolate bars, chocolate covered items, and prepping gift packaging. Additional factory responsibilities may be demolding chocolate, washing molds and other small equipment, handling cooling chocolate and general factory clean-up.

EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS
Above all, Packaging Assistants must be diligent in his/her duties. He/she should have strong verbal communication skills, attention to detail, ability to follow directions, and be able to perform detailed handwork quickly, accurately, and consistently. This position requires frequently lifting up to 50lbs, standing on your feet for up to 8 hours per day, working in rooms of varying temperature, as well as performing repetitive tasks.
This is a full-time hourly position, Monday thru Friday. Packaging Assistants are expected to arrive at work on time. A strong attendance record is crucial to the success of this position.
Each employee at Taza is subject to an annual and 6-month performance review. These reviews address the points found in the Duties & Responsibilities section above and allow the Company and the Employee to evaluate their success in fulfilling them. Results from performance reviews are used to make improvements inside the company, educate and empower the employee, provide benchmarks for individual growth, and provide factual basis for increases in compensation. Compensation is reviewed on an annual basis.
