Waffles make a great special occasion breakfast, or a fun and unexpected dessert. How to make them even more fun and special? Lots of Taza Chocolate! Make sure to follow the instructions on your waffle iron to get the best results.
3 eggs, beaten
2 cups buttermilk
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Pinch of salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 Taza 60% Dominican Stone Ground Chocolate bars, chopped
4 tablespoons butter
Cooking spray, for the waffle iron
Whipped cream, to garnish
Syrup or chocolate sauce, to garnish
Berries, to garnish
Powdered sugar, to garnish
1. Whisk together eggs and buttermilk in a bowl. In a separate bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. Combine chocolate and butter in a microwave-safe bowl, and microwave for 30 seconds, then stir. Repeat microwaving and mixing as needed until chocolate and butter are fully melted and blended. Combine dry ingredients with buttermilk mixture and whisk until just combined. Pour in chocolate mixture, and whisk again until combined.
2. Heat your waffle iron, then cook waffles according to manufacturer instructions.
Serve hot. Garnish with whipped cream, berries, powered sugar or syrup for breakfast, or top with vanilla ice cream for dessert.
