Machine Operator

JOB SUMMARY
Taza is organized into three major functions at its Somerville operation: Production, Sales & Marketing, and Operations. The Machine Operator performs an important role on the Production team. This position will be involved with all aspects of equipment operation within the factory, operating the assigned equipment to manufacturers and quality assurance specifications, supplying the equipment with product as scheduled and in compliance with company policy.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the safe operation of depositing and wrapping equipment

Responsible for ensuring efficient and safe machine operation, producing the highest quality product and finish product packaging, labeling, and date coding

Responsible for inspecting equipment prior to operation and notifying Shift Lead and Maintenance as required

Responsible for real time completion of batch data cards and quality checks prior to commencing operations

Coordinating raw materials and personnel in accordance with the production scheduling

Maintain clean and orderly production area in compliance with all certifications and safety regulations

Provide training and direction to other production line employees

Maintain proper LOTO tag records and fulfill policy requirements

Other duties as assigned
Food Safety
-
Conduct metal detector check per SOP
-
Follow all GMP procedures.
EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS

A high school diploma or GED, and/or equivalent work experience required

Post-secondary education/certification is a plus
-
One year of previous food processing or packaging experience strongly preferred

Understanding of food safety, workplace safety, and food quality standards is strongly preferred

Self-directed and personally motivated with attention to detail

Able to work in a fast paced environment while focusing on meeting or exceeding customer expectations

Good attendance and performance track record

Strong general mechanical abilities and troubleshooting skills

Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred

Good interpersonal and service skills at all levels internally and externally

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands, stretch and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
HOURS
Hours for this position are determined by the Taza production schedule, and defined by the Plant Manager, and will reflect the needs of the Production Team. The employee is expected to work at least 40 hours per week. A strong attendance record is crucial to the success of this position.

The hourly rate for this position is $19.00/hour.
